What is infrared therapy?
An infrared sauna session is a therapeutic experience that involves sitting in a small, heated room with infrared heaters that emit infrared light, which is absorbed by your skin and body. These sessions are designed to promote relaxation, relieve stress, and provide various potential health benefits. Here's how it works:
Preparation: When you arrive for your infrared sauna session, you'll be provided with a towel and instruction on how to turn everything on and off. You should also bring a change of clothes or a swimsuit to wear inside the sauna.
Entering the Sauna: The infrared sauna room is a small, enclosed space with wooden benches for sitting or lying down. You'll enter the sauna and sit or recline comfortably.
Infrared Heaters: Infrared saunas use infrared heaters that emit infrared light, which is a type of invisible radiant heat. Unlike traditional saunas that use steam or hot air, infrared saunas heat your body directly rather than warming the air around you. These heaters are designed to emit far-infrared (FIR) light, which is the part of the electromagnetic spectrum responsible for the heating effect.
Heating Your Body: As the infrared heaters warm up, they emit FIR light that penetrates your skin and warms your body directly. The heat generated in an infrared sauna can make you sweat, and your body's temperature will rise gradually.
Sweating: Sweating is a natural response to heat, and it's the body's way of cooling itself. In an infrared sauna, your body sweats to help regulate your temperature. Sweating can help release toxins and waste products from your body, which is often cited as a potential health benefit of sauna therapy.
Relaxation: Many people find infrared sauna sessions to be relaxing and stress-reducing. The gentle heat and warm environment can help promote a sense of calm and well-being.
Duration: The duration of an infrared sauna session can vary, but we offer a 20 minute session with a 10 minute shower follow up.
Cool Down: After your session, it's essential to cool down gradually. You can step out of the sauna and take a lukewarm shower to rinse off sweat and help your body return to its normal temperature.
Hydration: It's crucial to drink plenty of water before and after your session to stay hydrated, as sweating can lead to fluid loss.
We have two fabulous private sauna rooms to offer you, each room also has a shower. Saunas are relaxing and can help soothe aches and pains, but did you know they provide significant health benefits? REALLY, REALLY significant health benefits.
